Radio contact!
After all these years ... So long ... waiting ... wondering if there is anything left to the outside world ... anything left to humanity other than ourselves; a small band of scientists, researchers, and a handful of civilians who managed to survive the deadly creatures, overrunning out planet, who have conquered the Earth.
The signal appears to have come from 45.543667, -76.18808, a place outside Ottawa, in Canada. It was also garbled, as if the message was auto-sent, possible a fallen satellite(? which have been systematically failing and falling to earth daily now for the past couple years). We just don't know. All we can do is wait to find out as we have no desire to venture there.
This signal has inspired me to continue my journal.
Time to catch up ...
These "beasts" ... These "monsters" ... whatever they are, wherever they came from; whether failed laboratory experiments, or of extra-terrestrial origin, we still don't know. However, with the samples of the first fallen beast's skin, we've been able to develop life-saving, and life-prolonging serum. A mixture of the skin's 'contaminates' and Hyaluronic acid has been beneficial to our survival. Our children, after being transfused, seem to have ... for lack of better clarification ... have "super-human" abilities; heightened awareness and heightened strength. The elder among us have lived so much longer than expected. Our oldest subject is now 106 (if her birth records are accurate), yet doesn't look to be older than the day we found her hidden in a bunker 10 years ago, at her claimed age of 96. I am now 99, but feel younger than the 84 I was 15 years ago.
The parasitical creatures, which mutated off the original creature, are still a mysterious element. The acid in their blood conflicts with the science we know. After 15 years and extensive autopsies, we are still at square one on why their bites cause a multitude of malaise. The majority of the victims' response is for their arterial system to "flood" after holding blood-flow back for 5 to 10 minutes; their hearts pump out their entire stream (one massive pump) all at once, causing them to "explode". Yet, other victims suffer a more 'Zombie-like' state and have been known to attack other, living humans. A third set of those infected exhibit pre-hominid type qualities; they turn into prehistoric animals (much like a werewolf transformation, yet a variety of different type beasts from mammalian to reptilian) whose only desire is to (for lack of a better word) "mate" with anything and everything they come in contact! We have yet to name these creatures or their offspring, as there are just so many of them; so many different types of them. We've seen them roaming topside when the larger beasts are not around, and the larger creatures seem to either not mess with these things at all, or just don't see them. We've captured one of their offspring and have been keeping it in a cage. It doesn't eat, and it shows no signs of 'aging' past it's 7 years since initial capture. There's no actual determination of actual age, as it seems to have well passed puberty and exhibits the faculties of an adult (male? female? we have not been able to determine its precise gender as the species appears to have both male and female genitalia, as well as appendages we still have not been able to comprehend).
The signal. Yes ... recorded and analyzed: 12.3 seconds of static, put through our computers and our own ears. We don't fully understand the majority as the static is overwhelming and somewhat 'mind-controlling'. Several of us, including myself, have experienced hallucinations while listening to it; much like the hallucinations reported by our researchers when near the beast-like child when he/she is in a form of 'heat'. However, one thing is clear in the message, it is some form of warning. And, there's a baffling algorithm embedded in the static, repeated over and over the entire sequence that only our computers seem to hear and re-communicate: P18010EC20 CL022E1869EL4
In the hours since discovery, we are still currently trying to decipher the sequence.
Iv'e also been praying that Sakura and Jas have somehow survived, and found a way to contact us after all these years.
